Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the original resorts when Walt Disney World opened in 1971. Its Pacific Island theme is a favorite among guests and it is a very popular monorail resort.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort:
The Polynesian Village Resort is one of the first resorts to open when the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. It is loved by all, has some of the best food and theming out of all the resorts. This is one of the few resorts you can walk into and get transported to the Pacific Islands. When you walk in you can hear the sounds of the islands and see the beautiful decorations of the Polynesian theme. With a lot of rooms available and a new addition currently being built, the Polynesian is one of the best resorts to stay at.
Oh, and don’t let me to forget to tell you it is a Monorail Resort! So, enjoy easy transportation to Magic Kingdom or Epcot as well as to the Grand Floridian or Contemporary Resorts.
Resort Map:
It is a big campus with a lot of rooms and bungalows. Two pools, running trails, and a beach area to relax on make the Polynesian Resort a great resort to stay at. Use a resort map located throughout the property to figure out where you need to go!
Location:
The resort is located in the Magic Kingdom Resort area and on the monorail. It is highly sought after being on the monorail system.
Resort Rooms:
Standard – Standard rooms offer different views and price will reflect the view you select.
Standard Views are rooms that have views of the lagoon, pool or marina and theme park.
The rooms typically consist of a 2 King or 2 Queen Beds and a Day Bed. The Day Bed pulls out from the couch in the room.
Most Standard rooms sleep up to 5 guests.
Deluxe Studio –
1 Queen Bed and 1 Queen-Size Pull-Down Bed and 1 Single Pull-Down Bed.
Sleeps up to 5 Adults.
Standard view or lake view.

Club Level Rooms:
All Club Level Rooms have these amenities.
- Complimentary health club access
- Secured key access to the club-level lounge, serving refreshments 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily

- Access to Concierge service at the King Kamehameha Club
- Complimentary newspapers in Club Level lounge

Featuring garden view or lagoon views and theme park view.
1 Bedroom Suite Club Level –
2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed. The Queen beds share their own room off the main room where the day bed is.
Ambassador VP Suite Club Level –
1 King Bed and 2 Queen Beds and 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa.
King Kamehameha Suite Club Level –
1 King Bed and 2 Queen Beds and 1 Queen-Size Sleeper Sofa.
Honeymoon Room Club Level Club Level –
1 King Bed.
Bungalow –
Some features of the Bungalow include –
- Private deck with plunge pool and deck furniture
- Full Kitchen
- Patio or Deck for relaxing
Check In and Hospitality House:
The lobby to the Polynesian Resort is beautiful. It is full of decorations from the Pacific Islands. You can here island themed Disney music, and smell the food from the different restaurants in the main lobby.
Transportation:
There are 3 main ways you can get to all the other parks and resorts.
Monorail – The monorail runs through all the resorts are Bay Lake and to Magic Kingdom. A 1 stop transfer will take you to Epcot.
Buses – As with all Disney resorts the bus system will take you to and from the parks.
Ferry Boat – You can also take a Ferry to Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian.
Dining:
Kona Cafe – Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Resort is an Asian inspired American cafe. The food is infused with an Asian flavor, and it features an onstage sushi kitchen.
Kona Island – Kona Island is a little corner coffee and pastry bar located on the second level of the Polynesian Resort lobby. There is a separate menu for breakfast and from lunch on there is sushi and dessert you can get.
Barefoot Pool Bar – The Barefoot Pool Bar at Disney’s Polynesian Resort is located near the beautiful Lava Pool. Enjoy a drink or bite to eat with views of the volcano towering over the pool.
Oasis Bar & Grill – The bar located the Oasis Pool.
Pineapple Lanai – Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Resort is a quick service ice cream and Dole Whip stand. Get a Dole Whip or one infused with alcohol from this stand.
Tambu Lounge – Tambu Lounge is the Tiki lounge located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Get tropical drinks and Hawaiian-inspired appetizers from this tiki bar.
Trader Sam’s – Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is the Polynesian Resort’s version of a Speakeasy. Open from 3pm until midnight, and it becomes adults only after 8pm.
Capt. Cook’s – Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Resort is their quick service restaurant. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner you can start or end your day off here with some food and beverages.
Ohana – Ohana Breakfast is the Polynesian Resort’s Character Breakfast. Featuring an all your care to enjoy breakfast platter and your favorite Disney characters like Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch.
Shopping:
There are two stores located at the Polynesian Resort. Boutiki is the main store on the main level of the lobby. It is the larger of the two stores having plenty of merchandise from the parks and resort.
The Moana Mercantile is smaller and on the second floor. It has more food and drinks you can get to stock your room with on the trip.
Resort Activities:
The resort offers plenty of activities. From firepit S’mores to the pools, playground and fitness center you can do a lot of fun things just at the resort.
Lilo’s Playhouse is the activity center where you can do crafts and rent DVDs or board games.
Relaxing along the beach areas and watching the sunset is also a lot of fun. The kids love playing in the sand.
Resort Pools:
There are two pools right now at the Polynesian Resort.
The Lava Pool is the main pool that has a volcano as the backdrop and a 142-foot long water slide.
There is also a kids splash pad and play area near the Lava Pool.
The Oasis Pool is the smaller, quiet pool. No lifeguards are on duty here.
Other Amenities:
There are laundry services available at this resort as well.
