How did the Gurgling Suitcase get its name?
The name Gurgling Suitcase comes from the prohibition time frame. When America outlawed the consumption and sale of alcoholic beverages, people in the Key West and Southern Florida would have suitcases of rum shipped over from Cuba. The customs inspectors would then shake all the suitcases to listen for the sound of liquid in the luggage. That is how the name Gurgling Suitcase came to be.
Gurgling Suitcase Final Review:
The Gurgling Suitcase is a great place for a quick drink or two. Perfect for a drink while waiting on your room or Olivia’s reservation to open up. Great for getting one on the way to the pool or to sit at one of the benches. It is really not a place you can or are really encouraged to sit at for hours and eat and drink. The specialty drinks are excellent, and very recommended.
