Kona Cafe is the Asian-American inspired restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal time has it’s own menu. Some items carry over from the lunch to the dinner menu, but not everything. We have only eaten here for dinner, and it was great.

Atmosphere:

The open dining room is located on the second floor of the Polynesian Resort. It is in the main lobby area, so it is a highly trafficked area. The dining room is decorated in a Hawaiian theme with bright lights and themed music playing throughout. It can be kind of loud due to the amount of people typically in the lobby of the Polynesian.

The Menu:

The menu is unique for all mealtimes save a few items that are shared between lunch and dinner.

Kona Cafe’s Cancellation Policy:

If you can’t make your reservation, make sure to call and cancel at least 2 hours prior to your reservation time. If you fail to do this, you can be changed a $10 fee per person.

This is a major and recent change to Disney’s Dining Cancellation Policy. Prior to this change you had to cancel your reservations 24 hours in advance in order to avoid the fee.

  • Cancellation Advice: If you miss the 2-hour window still try calling the Dining reservation number to talk to them. Disney may be able to still help you out with the cancellation and possibly avoid the fee depending on the reasoning.

Walk-Up Reservations:

If you can’t make a reservation, you may be able to get on the list for a walk-up reservation. I would suggest to first check the app or give them a call.

If you are close to the restaurant, the app usually will tell the walk-up wait time, or if they are even taking walk-ups, are this time.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. It was tasty and full of flavor. The bread pudding was hands down the best thing about eating here. The atmosphere is fun and the service is excellent. As we stated above it can be kind of loud in there.
