When planning a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom knowing the Rides at Animal Kingdom is helpful in making plans for your trip! In this post we will list and describe all the rides at Animal Kingdom!
There are over 42 rides and attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Over 60 total attractions if you count each individual animal exhibit.
When planning a trip to Disney World planning out the rides and attractions at the parks is almost as essential as planning out where you will eat and what resort your stay at. This list will hopefully help you in planning out your day at Animal Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom Rides:
The rides at Animal Kingdom are some of the most popular rides in all of Disney World. With Pandoras edition of its two rides Animal Kingdom has some of the longest wait times for rides out of all the parks.
Avatar Flight of Passage:
Enter the world of Avatar and fly a banshee over Pandora!
Tip: This is the most popular ride in the park, and probably in the Top 3 of Disney World Rides – Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and Tron Lightcycle being the other 2 most popular.
Location: Pandora – World of Avatar
Height Requirement: 44in
Lighting Lane Offered: Yes, but you do have to purchase the individual Lightning Lane for this ride.
DINOSAUR at Animal Kingdom is a dark ride where you travel back in time to rescue a dinosaur before a meteor strikes the earth. Race against time, back in time on this wild adventure with twists, turns, and dinosaurs!
Tip: This can be a scarier ride and if your kids are too scared don’t forget that you can use rider switch.

Lighting Lane Offered: Yes
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain:
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is the high thrill roller coaster located in Asia in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Take a train ride to the top of Mt. Everest but beware of the Yeti!
Tip: This is a more popular ride so Genie+ or rope dropping this ride would help your waiting time.

Lighting Lane Offered: Yes
It’s Tough to be a Bug is a 3D short film based on the 1998 Disney Pixar film A Bug’s Life. It’s an educational but fun video hosted by Flik to teach humans why bugs are our friends.
Tip: This show can be scary, so we suggest you check it out before you take your little ones. You can find out more on our post on the details of this show.

Height Requirement: None
Lighting Lane Offered: Yes, Lightning Lane is available, but this is a thrill show, and the auditorium is huge. Waiting is not really that long. If it is crowded check on the Lightning Lane times, but this one is usually pretty easy to get into.
Kali River Rapids:
This is a wet and wild whitewater raft style ride that goes down a river in Asia.
Tip: You will get very wet on this ride! They do offer free lockers for items you don’t want wet, and you can use them. A poncho is also on option.

Lighting Lane Offered: Yes
Kilimanjaro Safaris:
An open-air jeep on a safari trip through Africa. See a variety of animals along your adventure.
Tip: You will see the most animals when the day is cooler usually the morning or evening. During the afternoon heat most animals will be in the shade sleeping.

Na’vi River Journey:
The Na’vi River Journey is a boat ride through the caves and bioluminescent rainforest of Pandora.
Tips: This dark ride is one of the most beautiful rides in Disney World. Lightning Lane is highly recommended.

Lighting Lane Offered: Yes, and it is highly recommended as this is one of the most popular rides at Animal Kingdom.
TriceraTop Spin is the carousel-style dinosaur ride located in Dinoland, USA in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Take a ride on a Triceratops in the sky!
Tips: This fun Dumbo-like ride is great for the whole family. Usually never a long wait time here.

Attractions at Animal Kingdom:
Animal Kingdom definitely has more attractions than rides, and that is one of the reasons we love this park.
Festival of the Lion King is a celebration of the story of the Lion King hosted by Simba, Timon and Pumba along with a variety of performers. Experience this celebration of the Lion King in this amazing stage show in Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Tip: The show will have scheduled time you can find on the app. We suggest arriving at least 20 minutes before the show to get a good seat.

Affection Section:
Animal Kingdom also features Walt Disney World’s only petting zoo.
Tip: You have to ride over to this on the Wildlife Express Train. The last train leaves at 4:30pm

Animal Encounters: Winged Encounters – The Kingdom Takes Flight:
Animal Encounters: Winged Encounters – The Kingdom Takes Flight is an exotic bird encounter that takes place right in front of the Tree of Life. Experience beautiful birds mostly parrots take flight around Discovery Island and the Tree of Life.
Tip: Get as close as you can to the front where the bird experts are and have questions ready.

Beacons of Magic:
This is currently Animal Kingdom’s nighttime show. It is shown typically 15 minutes before the park closes weather darkness permitting.
Tip: Arrive a few minutes early to get a spot closest to the Tree of Life for the best view.

Chakranadi:
Enjoy beautiful sounds of Indian melodies as a talented musician plays the sitar.
Tip: This show is usually only played during Animal Kingdom’s Festival of All Seasons.

Conservation Station:
Take the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to visit the Conservation Station to experience a variety of animal experiences and activities.
Tip: You have to ride over to this on the Wildlife Express Train. The last train leaves at 4:30pm

Discovery Island Trails:
Take a self-guided tour around the Tree of Life to see the different animal sculptures on the tree and a variety of wildlife.
Tip: This is a really fun and leisurely stroll to experience all the Tree of Life has to offer.

Feathered Friends in Flight is the amazing bird show presented at Anadapur Theater in Asia of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Learn how the animal behavior specialists care and train our feathered friends.
Tip: Be sure to get there a few minutes before the show starts to ensure you have a seat. Check the app for the show times.

Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!
Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond is a Broadway style show featuring a story and songs about Finding Nemo. Fan favorite songs like “In the Big Blue World” and “Go With the Flow” are performed by a cast of performers dressed as Nemo and his friends.
Tip: The show will have scheduled time you can find on the app. We suggest arriving at least 20 minutes before the show to get a good seat.

Fossil Fun Games are the classic boardwalk style carnival games with a Dino-twist located in Dinoland, USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail:
Animal exploration trail that features zebras, hippos, gorillas and more.
Tip: This is kind of a longer trek so plan accordingly, but it is really fun to see the animals.

Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe:
Enjoy exciting African music with these drummers on the stage.
Tip: Crowd participation is a must for this drum show.

The Animation Experience at Conservation Station:
Draw one of your favorite Disney characters with a Disney Animator!
Tip: This is very popular and fills up quickly, but it is a great experience you should try.
Location: Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch

The Boneyard is an open-air playground and play area made to resemble a dinosaur dig site. It is located in Dinoland, USA in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Tip: This is a great place for the kids to play and have some fun!

Viva Gaia Street Band!:
Enjoy a Caribbean street party with the Viva Gaia Street Band!
Tip: This is a really fun party, and we’ve seen some secret characters come out and join the party before.

Wilderness Explorers:
The Wilderness must be explored! Follow in Russell’s footsteps and earn your Wilderness Explorer Badges!
Tip: This is a super fun way for the kids to enjoy learning about all the animals at Animal Kingdom.
Location: Home Base is at Discovery Island, and the Troop Leaders are all over the park.

Wildlife Express Train:
This is the train ride from Africa to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Enjoy some behind the scenes looks at some of the parks animals.
Tip: The last train ride is at 4:30pm.
