Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites – Waterpark
Within minutes to all the Disney Parks, this Holiday Inn Resort is a great place to stay on your Disney or Orlando vacation. Holiday Inn Resort Orlando – Waterpark is one of the most affordable resorts we have found in the Disney Area. Yes, it is not on Disney property, but they do have resort shuttles if you choose to use those. The pool and waterpark area is huge and offers a great fun option to stay cool in the Florida heat.
Resort Map:
Location of Holiday Inn Resort:
The resort is located on 14500 Continental Gateway which is just a few miles from International Drive for Disney World.
Check in is 4pm and check out is 10am.
Resort Rooms:
This resort from Holiday Inn boasts as the “only all-suite Holiday Inn.” Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites has 3 room suite options. There are 1-, 2-, and 3-Bedroom suites at this resort. All suites have a living room with a queen sleeper sofa in it. The 2 and 3 Bedroom suites offer a kids room that has bunk beds in it. The 3-bedroom suite also has a “guest room” with 2 twin beds in it.
All the suites feature a living room with a queen-size sleeper couch. The 1- and 2-bedroom suites feature a kitchenette with mini-fridge, Keurig coffee maker and microwave. The 3-bedroom suite, also called the “Executive Suite,” has a bigger kitchen are with a full size refrigerator and dining area with a bar-styler seating area.
All the rooms also have a table and chairs for dining as well. The larger rooms sometimes have 4 chairs and the smaller rooms just have 2 chairs. All rooms have a flatscreen tv on the wall.
The Suite Bathroom:
The suites all share a similar style bathroom. A sink with a small vanity, toilet and shower/tub combo. The 3-bedroom suite also has a separate off the master bedroom that has a walk-in shower in it.
Kids Bedroom:
The kid’s bedroom is one of the main selling points to this resort. The bunk beds and cool beach theme was awesome. Our kids loved staying in their own cool room.
The bunk bed has a double bed on the bottom and a twin bed up top. There is a small flatscreen tv and some shelves for the kids to put their toys.
The Master Bedroom:
The master bedroom has a queen or king size bed. There are nightstands and a small closet. There is a flatscreen tv on the wall in all the rooms.
Check In and Hospitality:
Check in is at 4pm. The check-in area is pretty crowded at check-in time. The staff is very excellent, and even remembered us from our multiple stays here.
Transportation:
The resort is very close to the Disney Parks. They do have transportation to the parks and to Universal Studios as well. Check with the front desk or the concierge for the bus times.
Dining:
There is a large food court area with a lot of different options to eat. They also have a sit-down restaurant the features a breakfast buffet. The Lakeside Cafe is small, but does feature some of the best food on property. It unfortunately is only open for breakfast though.
There is also the Lagoon Bar that is the poolside bar and the Burger Theory for some food and drinks at the pool.
The food court area is kind of like what you would expect from a mall. A variety of options from Mexican to Pizza to Ice Cream. There are a lot of options everyone can find something they enjoy. We do highly recommend Sombrero’s Cantina. The kids loved the pizza from Antonio’s Pizzeria.
The dining area is large, and compared to how crowded the pool was never very crowded. There is an arcade off the dining room and some of the other fun things to do there.
Shopping:
The resort does have a small store where you can get snacks and drinks. It is relatively small, but luckily this resort is close to shopping outside the resort. There is a Walmart pretty close by if you need supplies.
Resort Activities:
Besides the pool and waterpark there are a lot of fun things to do at this resort. There is a 4D Experience that has a Bank Heist Laser Maze in it. You have to make it across the room and turn off the lasers without touching a laser.
There is also a movie theater neat the 4D Experience that has nightly family friendly movies to watch.
The Kids Corner is a small play area for young kids. There are a few small activity tables kids can play with.
This is a nice quiet area you can have your little ones play at while the older kids do the arcade or laser maze.
Resort Pools:
The best amenity at this is the Waterpark and Pool. After all, the name of the hotel is Holiday Inn Resort Orlando – Waterpark. The pool is huge and has a zero-entry to it. There are 2 splash pad style water spouts in the shallow end. Lifeguards are on duty when the pool is open. The cabanas can be rented for half day or a full day.
The waterpark is awesome. We could not keep our kids off this. There are plenty of slides and waterspouts and a large bucket that dumps water on the whole park. Lifeguards are stationed around and, in the waterpark, as well.
Other Amenities:
The resort also features a few other fun things to do.
There is an arcade and a 9-hole mini golf course. You can also enjoy a basketball court, playground and some ping pong tables inside the dining area.
There is also a small fitness center guests can use to work out in.
Overall Thoughts and Review of Holiday Inn Resort Orlando – Waterpark:
We have stayed here a few times and have recommended our friends to stay here too. We are Hilton Honors members so that has helped us in getting a tad cheaper rate. This resort has been the best priced resort in close proximity to Disney World we have stayed at. Now we do have to say, it is not a Disney Resort.
We have enjoyed every stay we have had here, but there are some differences to expect when staying on an off-property resort. It is considerably louder than Disney Resorts. Even in the room at night, we could hear a lot that was going on outside and in the adjoining rooms. The pool is also more crowded than we have experienced at Disney Resorts.
These differences are definitely not going to stop us from staying again. The price, bunk bedrooms and waterpark make this a great resort to stay at for a Disney trip.
